Amber Airways is a fictional regional airline, serving
the major centres of New Zealand.
This system is an online booking system, with a
drag-and-drop seat reservation facility.
The Amber Airways demo is intended to be a representative
subset of a real-world, multi-user application. The application
is fully integrated with it's own SQL database on the server,
and performs extensive database access on every screen. The seating
plan functionality, which is easily implemented in Amber, is impossible
to achieve using traditional scripting languages, and extremely
cumbersome using other browser technologies such as standalone
Java applets and Macromedia Flash.
Amber Airways is only a demo, and does not implement
a full online booking system, but it is sufficient to give you
a feeling for how a real-world business-oriented Amber application
looks and behaves. Go ahead, fire it up and book yourself on a
flight!
